News:
• December 2009 - Jim Oswald has been awarded the status of an ‘Accredited Solution Development Consultant’ by the Carbon Trust.
• October/November 2009 - We started working on an efficiency analysis for, as well as analysing experimental results from, a major CCGT power station who are testing changes to their fuel supply by pre-heating it to higher temperatures before combustion.
• October 2009 - Completed for a customer a summary of the performance of all UK renewable energy sites (including, for the first time, <50kW ‘microsites’) for the final quarter 2008/first quarter 2009.
• September 2009 - Jim appeared on BBC Radio’s ‘Five Live Breakfast’ at Burton Wold wind farm discussing wind power and high pressure systems across Europe. An early start but worth it for the views of the turbines at sunrise!
• September 2009 - Completed pneumatic drying model of bagasse dryer for a company in India.
• September 2009 - We visited potential customer in Kent for heat exchanger optimisation consultancy support.
• August 2009 - We are collaborating with Birmingham University to apply for a 3-year funding in assessing the ‘balancing curve’ of wind energy.
• July 2009 - Completed 1st phase of testing in a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine with different operating conditions namely no steam, higher fuel temperature, different power loading and steam:fuel ratio.
• June 2009 - Hezlin & Roger volunteered to assist the IMechE in their ‘Climate Change 2050’ event for Year 10 students at Countesthorpe Community College, Leicestershire, to engage them with the issue of climate change and the role of engineers in tackling the associated problems.
